“Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterfalls; all Your waves and billows have gone over me. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night His song shall be with me – a prayer to the God of my life.” Psalms 42:7-8
Last week we talked about Bible stories that help us to see God more clearly. When I was reading my Bible this week, I found this verse that I really liked. Part of why I liked it is because we have a waterfall and it is one of my favorite places to be. I like to sit on my favorite rock and watch the water falling down the rock face and hear it gurgle and splash. It is one of my quiet places where I can be a part of God’s creation and feel close to God.
We all need to have a quiet place where we can relax and be still with God. There are so many things going on around us; the TV, the radio, the phone, the computer, that it is difficult to just be still and think about God. Being close to God’s created world, makes me feel closer to God.
This is my favorite rock seat at the waterfall.
Quiet Place Thoughts
I watch the water tumble and fall,
I hear the rushing gurgle of it all.
Thank you, God, for the water.
I hear the wind in the tops of the trees,
Getting closer, until I feel the gentle breeze.
Thank You, God, for the wind.
I see a red-tailed hawk fly overhead,
Looking for his dinner with wings wide-spread.
Thank You, God, for the birds.
I hear a splash beneath my rock seat.
A frog hops out and just misses my dangling feet.
Thank You, God, for water creatures.
I look at the huge rocks tumbled around,
And the trees and the plants and soft wet ground.
Thank You, God, for creating it all.
This week find a quiet place just for you. It can be anyplace. It could be your backyard, or your friend’s woods, or a neighborhood park, or even a seat by a window where you can see a bit of God’s wonderful world. See if you can see some things that God has created and try to feel God close to you.
Draw a picture of your quiet place and ask your parents to post it as a reply to this blog so that others can see God in His created world and feel close to God.
