Fear Not Because God Is With You

“Fear not for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NKJV

Stormy Sky 2

The verse above tells us that God is with us. He tells us not to fear or be dismayed. Dismayed means worried or upset about something that is happening in our lives. God tells us not to be dismayed or fearful because He will give us the strength to handle it. God will help us. And that God will hold us up in His right hand. I love the picture that creates in my mind! That our huge  and mighty God is holding me safely in His right hand. Wow, I really don’t have anything to fear!

God Wipes Out Fear!

Nathan was afraid there was a monster under his bed.

That might come out at night and scratch at his head.

He yelled for his mom to come quick as she could

And get rid of that scary clawed-monster for good!

Mom ran into his room, “Are you hurt, what’s up?”

Nathan could only point below the bed as he backed up.

He felt the cool wall and slumped down in a heap.

The fear on his face told his mom he couldn’t sleep.

Mom sat down on the edge of the bed and lifted the sheet,

And peeped underneath while Nathan kept his safe, wall seat.

“No monsters!” said Mom with a smile and a tight tickle hug.

Nathan laughed and crawled under the covers, nice and snug.

Mom walked to the door to flip off the light…

“Wait!” yelled Nathan, “What if it comes back in the night?”

Mom came back slowly and knelt down at Nathan’s bedside,

“Let’s say a prayer and ask God to be your nighttime guide.”

Nathan closed his eyes, folded his hands and bowed his head.

Mom prayed softly, “God, please watch over Nathan as he sleeps in bed,

And hold him safely in Your right hand and take away his fear.

And give him sleep and sweet dreams as You stay near.”

Mom kissed Nathan goodnight and turned at the door to say,

“Remember, Nathan, in God’s strong hand you lay,

God wipes away the fear and gives you peace instead.”

Nathan lay down and smiled at the picture in his head.

This week draw a picture of something that dismays you or makes you afraid. Share it with your parents and ask them to help you pray about it so God can help bring you peace.

Afterwards ask your parents to share your picture and prayer as a reply to this blog so that everyone can learn to “lie safely in God’s right hand” and wipe out fears.
