“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”” Ephesians 6:1-3 NKJV
One of God’s Ten Commandments for all of us is to honor our fathers and mothers. That means to treat them with love, respect and kindness (just like we talked about last week!). Our parents love us, take care of us, pray for us, and want only the best for us. Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. It is a special day when we honor our mothers for all they do for us and all they mean to us. (Don’t worry; dads will get their special day in June.)
Thank You, Mom!
Thank you, Mom, you’re the very best,
To tell you why is today’s cool quest!
You wake me up with a sunny smile.
You sit on my bed and talk awhile.
You fix me breakfast, frosted flakes,
And tie my shoelace when it breaks.
You tell me you love me all day long,
And help me learn, right from wrong.
You teach me the things I need to know;
About God and life, so I can grow.
You give me hugs and a teddy bear,
To keep me company when you’re not there.
You tuck me in tight to bed each night,
And read me a story, and turnout the light.
You whisper sweet dreams and say a prayer,
I whisper goodnight, Mom, and hug my bear.
Honor your mother this Mother’s Day by saying thank you for all she does for you!
This week do something special for your special mom; pick her some flowers, or write her a poem, or write her a thank you note, or draw a picture for her, or make her something to eat (maybe dad can help), or just give her lots of hugs and kisses.
If you want to share something about your special mom, ask your parents to post it as a reply to this blog. Then look for it on the Kids Gallery page.
