Signs of Spring

“Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;”” Genesis 1:14a NKJV

God created the world. On the fourth day of creation He created the sun and the moon and the stars. The sun and the moon give light to the day and night but they also help people know the days, months and years. And God planned for the four seasons of the year: spring, summer, fall and winter.

Even though outside my window still looks like winter, with bare tree limbs and brownish grass, the first signs of spring are everywhere. Spring is coming! Spring is when the earth comes to life after a resting time in winter. Let’s go in search of spring in God’s wonderful creation!

The weather is warmer, the yellow sun shines.IMG_0154 (2)

I search the bare woods for new life signs.

Forest Flower 2I step slowly and look for bright color splashes.

Down in the leaves a purple flower flashes.

I continue my exploration of the forest floor,         IMG_0189 2

And find green leaves and stems and buds galore!

White Flowers

I stroll to a field that’s hilly and brown.

And find tiny white flowers sitting on leaves like a crown.

I scour the tree line and see new leaves budding,  IMG_0750

As well as peach blossoms, a bare branch cuddling.

Slowly and surely God’s earth begins to hum!

This week go outside and see if you can find signs of spring and new life in God’s creation. Take a photograph or draw a picture of what you see. If it’s too early for springtime signs where you live, draw your own idea of what spring will look like!

Afterwards ask your parents to share your photo or picture as a reply to this blog (or by email) so that everyone can learn about spring and God’s wonderfully planned creation.

Also check out the new “Kids Gallery” page where your pictures would be posted!
