God’s Love is Forever and Never Fails!

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. Psalms 36:5-7 NLT

Even though ice and snow and freezing temperatures surround the waterfall, the water still flows, just like God’s love flows down into our lives no matter the troubles around us!

These verses from Psalm 36 were actually written as a song to the Lord by King David (remember David and Goliath). David wrote many of the Psalms in the Bible to tell how wonderful our God is.

I love the word pictures in these verses: try to picture in your mind  each one.

God’s love is so big it reaches to the heavens.

God’s faithfulness to us reaches to the skies.

God’s righteousness, or goodness, is like a high mountain.

God’s justice is like the deep of the ocean.

God’s never-failing love covers and keeps us safe like a bird’s wings stretched out over her young.

This is the week that we celebrate love, Happy Valentine’s Day on Saturday! It is a time when we can thank God for all the ways He shows us that He loves us. We thank Him for all His blessings! Some of our big blessings might be our mom and dad, our sisters and brothers, our friends, or our home.

But this week I want you to start looking for the small ways that God’s love touches your life each day. Maybe today you saw a beautiful sunrise while you were waiting for the bus and it made you smile, and think, “Wow, thank You, God!” Maybe you finally got to check out your favorite book at the library. “Yay! I love this animal book! Thanks, God!” Maybe you didn’t get called on when you weren’t sure of the answer in class. “Whew, thank you, Lord!”

Decide how you can keep track of the blessings that God’s love brings to you. You could use:

A notebook, or a calendar, or a “blessing box or jar,” or a markerboard – try to find one for each day and then you can share it with your family and friends.

When Valentine’s Day comes, you should have lots of blessings and ways that God’s love has touched your life. We love each other because he loved us first. 1 John 4:19  And because God loves us, we can share God’s love with others. Show God’s love by being kind and caring, listening and helping, being a good friend, completing your chores, and loving others.

Blessings for God’s love over every part of your life as you receive His love and share His love with others!
