Walking

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27 ESV

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. 1 John 2:6 ESV

And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:2 ESV

We’ve come to the end of another year. Is it just me, or do the years seem to go by much faster than they used to? An early “Happy New Year’s Day” to everyone! May each one of you be abundantly loved and richly blessed in 2026!

This month we’ve explored waiting for the Messiah, the wonders around the birth of Jesus, some of the eye-witness accounts, the worship of Jesus at His birth, and this week we conclude with our calling to abide in Jesus and walk in His footsteps as we live our lives.

All of our verses this week talk about walking with Jesus or following in his footsteps. I want to encourage all of us, including myself, who call ourselves Christians, to remember that we can show Jesus to others when we “walk in the same way in which he walked.”

Do we love people like Jesus did? Show compassion to the poor and oppressed? Provide for those in need? Serve others? Give comfort to the grieving? Humble ourselves in order to put others first? Listen well and speak truth with love? Forgive as we have been forgiven? Be faithful to our families and friends?

This week and this new year, let’s focus on walking in His footsteps, following His words of life, and shining the light of Jesus for others to see!

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we remember to abide in Him and walk in His way.

Blessings and joy as you follow in the footsteps of Jesus!
