Worship

And the angel said to them [shepherds], “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest.” Luke 2:10-11, 13-14

Luke 2:15-17 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas we’ve “waited” for, “wondered” at, and “witnessed” the truth of Jesus. Finally, this week, we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, our Savior, and our Redeemer! And just like the angels and the shepherds, our response is worship; to praise, to serve, to glorify, to love, to humbly submit, and to joyfully tell others the wonderful good news of Jesus, who came to earth as a baby to reconcile us with God!

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense, and myrrh.  Matthew 2:1-2,11

And like the wise men, what treasures or gifts can we bring to Jesus? We can bring our hearts filled with His Spirit, our lives that are lived for Him, our time to serve Him and others, our thanks for all He has done, our obedience, our love, and our praise.

Warm wishes and prayers for a wonderful Christmas season with your family and friends!

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus, with worship.
