The Wonders of Jesus Birth!

And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Luke 1:30-32a ESV

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2:6-7 ESV

The wonder of a beautiful and colorful sunrise! God offers us this wonder every day.

Last week we talked about how long God’s people had been waiting for the promised Messiah, for Jesus. This week, while we are still waiting to celebrate Christmas, we look to the birth of Jesus, specifically about all the wonders that God prepared for the birth of His Son, who would come to earth to save us.

A wonder is something so cool or amazing that it might even seem hard to believe, like something so beautiful it surprises you, like a baby bird flying for the first time, or unexplainable, like a magician’s trick, or something that seems impossible that makes you want to explore and ask questions to find out more about it.

Read the first part of our first verse with your parents, what is the first wonder? If you say an angel, good work! Can you imagine an angel sent from God to talk to you or me, wow!

The next amazing wonder is that Mary is chosen to be the mother of God’s Son, Jesus! How do you think Mary felt about being chosen by God?

Over the next two weeks, as we wait to celebrate Christmas Day, we will be looking at even more wonders.

This week talk with your parents about wonders. What are some wonders that you have seen or that your parents have told you about? What things surprised you or amazed you? We can look at God’s wonderful creation and find lots of wonders. How many can you find?

Blessings and joy as you search for God’s wonders in His creation and in the birth of His Son, Jesus!
