God’s Fingerprints in His Amazing Creation

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1: 27 ESV

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Genesis 1:31 ESV

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13 ESV

A small part of God’s wonderful creation, where do you find God’s fingerprints?

I have handprint reindeer to hang on my Christmas tree and Mother’s Day cards with fingerprint smiling faces. My kids made them in school or Sunday school. But what makes them extra special is that they have my kids’ unique fingerprints or handprints! Have you made a handprint or fingerprint card or something else for your mom or dad or someone special?

Did you know that you, and every human, have different fingerprints? A fingerprint is a mark made on a surface when you touch it with your fingertip. Your fingertips have a pattern of whorls (circles or spirals) and lines that are unique to you. And no one has same fingerprints as someone else, even identical twins have different fingerprints! If someone had an imprint of your fingerprints they would be able to tell if you had touched something.

Our first two verses are from the book of Genesis, when God created the whole world and everything in it! God created humans, male and female, in His image on the sixth day of creation. God may not have actual fingerprints, but when we look at God’s creation, we can see the work of His hands, all the beautiful and amazing things that God made! So, we say that we can see God’s “fingerprints” everywhere in His creation.

This week think about what God created each day; your parents can help you discover in Genesis what was created each day.

I’ll help you get started. On day one, God created light. The earth was without form and void (empty), and darkness was over the face of the deep. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. God called the light, day, and the darkness, night. God gave us the light so that we can see to work and play and get things done. And God gave us the darkness so that we can have time to sleep and rest.

We can see God’s “fingerprints” in His care and love for us by giving us day and night! Talk with your family about how God made something beautiful or amazing each day and you will be finding God’s “fingerprints” everywhere in creation.

Blessings and joy finding God’s fingerprints in His wonderful creation!
