The Greatness of God!

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. Psalm 145:3 ESV

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Psalm 147:5 ESV

Both of our verses this week were written by David. As Judah and Israel grew they frequently looked back on all that God had done and all that God was to them.

A little different format this week, I have shared some verses from God’s Word that help to remind all of us of who God is and what He does for us. I’m not very good at memorizing verses (I’m old) and so I have written these down to help me and all of us remember who God is and what He has done and will continue to do. Let us all be thankful and praise our amazing, great God!

Our God …

Is Our Creator – In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1.1

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27

Loves us – Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Calls us by name – Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by my name, you are mine. Isaiah 43:1b

Is With us – It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

Is Our Father – But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8

Sees us – For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance; the LORD looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7b

Knows us – O LORD, you have searched me and known me! Psalm 139:1

Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. Psalm 139:4

Is Our Comforter – Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4a

Is Our Strength and Help – fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Is Our Refuge – I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. Psalm 91:4

Is Our promise keeper – Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.   Psalm 145:13

Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass. Joshua 21:45

Is Our guide and teacher – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Psalm 32:8

Is near the brokenhearted – The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? Psalm 56:8

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we remember the greatness of God and how He loves and helps each of us.

Blessings and peace as we live in the shadow of His wings!
