Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. Psalm 145:3 ESV

Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Psalm 147:5 ESV

Our two verses for today were both written by King David. He tells us that our God is great. God is powerful and wise beyond measure and that because He is great that we should praise Him.

Today we are going to look at some of the ways that God is great to us. I’m going to list some ways that God is great and give you a Bible verse or two for each one to look up with your parents. So that we can all be thankful to God and praise Him like King David did.

Our God …

Is Our Creator – God created the whole world, and He created you! Genesis 1:1&27

Loves us – God loves every person He created. He loves you, forever. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us and save us. Psalm 136:1 and John 3:16

Calls us by name – God created each person and knows us by name. God says we are his children. Isaiah 43:1b

Is With us – God is with us. God will not leave you alone. God helps us to not be afraid or troubled because we can always call to Him. Deuteronomy 31:8

Is Our Father – God is the Father of every person since He created us. We can pray to Father God and talk to Him about anything.  Isaiah 64:8

Sees us – God sees us, He knows our joys and our troubles. God sees what is in our hearts.    1 Samuel 16:7b

Knows us – God knows what we will say before we say it. He knows our heart. Psalm 139:1&4

Is Our Comforter  When we are sad or hurting or in trouble God can give us peace and comfort. Just knowing that God understands and is with us is comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4a

Is Our Strength and Help – God can help us be strong when we feel weak. He can help us find the right words to say. God says He holds us in His hand. Isaiah 41:10

Is Our Refuge – A refuge is a place where you can be safe and protected. Your home is like a refuge, but God is also a safe place, He can help protect you. Psalm 91:2&4

Is Our promise keeper – God promises that He will love us forever and that things will work for our good. And God is faithful and keeps His promises.   Psalm 145:13, Joshua 21:45

Is Our guide and teacher – God helps us to understand when we read His words in the Bible and His Spirit can speak to our hearts to guide us to do and say the right things  Psalm 32:8

Is near the brokenhearted – God hurts for us when we hurt. He is close to those who hurt and call on Him. God even sees, and “collects” our tears when we cry Psalm 34:18, Psalm 56:8
