Finding God in the Fall Season!

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years. Genesis 1:14 ESV

Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Psalm 66:1 ESV

The glorious colors of Fall in God’s amazing and beautiful creation!

Our first verse today is from Genesis, when God created the whole world and everything in it. On the fourth day God created the sun and the moon and the stars. Where I live, in the northern hemisphere, Fall began on September 22nd this year.

In the Fall each day gets a bit shorter, the weather gets cooler, squirrels start storing acorns for the winter, and the leaves change color and later fall from the trees. Can you see why this season is called Fall? It is also called Autumn.

I’m going to share some pictures of Fall where I am, let’s see is we can “find” God.

In Fall, the shorter and cooler days signal trees to stop making chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is what makes leaves green in the spring and summer. When the trees stop making chlorophyll, the leaves become their real colors! What color leaves do you see in the Fall? Reds, yellows, oranges, browns and even sometimes purple! Maybe God was thinking how beautiful all the different colors would be. Maybe He knew how we would find His handiwork in the beauty of the Fall season.

Looking up at all the tall treetops with yellows and oranges and reds and the blue sky above is so beautiful. Maybe God made the trees so tall so that we would have to look up toward Him as we remember that He created the beauty for us to find Him. Maybe He wants each of us to find Him in this amazing world that He created just for us!

The water of the pond reflects all of the Fall trees and the blue sky with white wispy clouds. The beauty of the Fall season of God’s creation is wonderful. Maybe God knew that when we saw the beauty that He created for us, that we would try to find Him. And today we found God in the beautiful world that He created for us and like all the earth, we can give Him the glory and praise!

In the Fall animals prepare for winter when food is scarce. Squirrels collect acorns and other nuts to eat during the cold winter season. God takes care of all of His creation!

This week talk with your parents about God’s creation and the beauty of Fall or the season you are in. Together, step outside into the beauty of the season and find God. Maybe He is just waiting to be found by you!

Blessings and joy as you find God in His amazing creationand seasons!
