Tell Someone About Jesus!

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 ESV

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  Mark 16:15-16 ESV

This week at church we had some missionaries come and talk to us about how they are telling others about Jesus and how to follow Him. A missionary is someone who is led by God to share the good news (the gospel) of Jesus with people who haven’t heard it before, either in a foreign country or even in their own country.

One young woman was getting ready to go to Zimbabwe in Africa to tell children and adults in an orphanage the good news about Jesus so that they can believe in Him and be saved and go to heaven one day. She had already learned two of the languages spoken in Zimbabwe!

There was also a family in the Philippines that spread the good news about Jesus to the people in their own country who did not know Him.

Our verses today are both spoken by Jesus after his death and resurrection and before He ascended to Father God in heaven. Jesus tells his disciples and us that we should go and tell others the good news, that Jesus died for us to take away our sins and that by believing in Him we are saved so that we may be more like Him and one day spend forever with Him in heaven.

This week talk with your parents about how your family can be missionaries in your own town or neighborhood. Is there someone you know that may not know the good news about Jesus? Talk about things you could say or even things you could do. Maybe you could invite someone to come to Sunday school or church with you, or tell someone Jesus loves them, or be kind and generous to someone like Jesus would.

Blessings and joy as you, too, can be a missionary and tell someone the good news about Jesus!
