So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 ESV

We are created in the image of God, His “image-bearers”. We are blessed and given dominion over all of God’s amazing creation.
In this world, we may be called by many names. I have been daughter and granddaughter, sister, babysitter, and student. In my adult life I have been teacher, stay-at-home mom, financial officer, retired, and now grandmother. I am a writer and blogger.
The problems come when we begin to listen to the names that others give us, or we even give to ourselves. I dreamed of writing children’s books. After several rejection letters from agents and publishers, I “gave up” on children’s books. I had “failed.” I was “fearful” of even trying anymore.
But God reminded me that I am who He says I am! If you have gotten lost in the names that others or you have given yourself, let me help you to remember who God says you are!
You are:
1 John 3:1-2 – Beloved, God’s children.
Ephesians 2:10 – God’s workmanship, created in Christ to do good works
1 Peter 2:9 – chosen, God’s special possession
Matthew 5:14-16 – the light of the world to shine before others
Matthew 6:26 – valuable, provided for by God
1 John 2:12 – forgiven
Ephesians 1:7 – redeemed
2 Corinthians 5:17 – a new creation
Romans 15:7 – accepted
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 – God’s temple, where God’s Spirit dwells
Titus 1:1 – God’s elect
Romans 8:28 – called according to God’s purpose
2 Corinthians 5:20 – ambassadors for Christ
This week let’s all remember who God says we are. Let’s live out His purpose for our lives and shine His light for others. Let’s throw off any names that don’t agree with who God says we are.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we all remember who God says we are and live out our truth in Him.
Blessings, love and joy!
