Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14
So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Romans 14:19

Finding peace in our current world seems to be nearly impossible. There are “wars and rumors of wars.” Watching the news only compounds our worries and anxieties. There are new and continuing conflicts with brutal political rhetoric. Where can we find peace?
Through our Father God and His Son, Jesus!
In our first verse, Jesus promises us His peace, which is not of this world. He says we will not be troubled or afraid. Our next two verses have a phrase that speaks to me. We are to pursue peace; we are to actively chase after peace. We are to go to God through Jesus Christ and pursue His peace, the peace that “surpasses understanding.” And how can we do that?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
This week I encourage all of us to go to the Father through Jesus and pursue peace for our lives. Give your worries and concerns to God, leave them in His capable hands. And a gentle reminder, that in our pursuit of peace, two actions are required on our part; the first is to go to God with our request for peace and second to trust that He is ultimately the One in control. Let the anger and angst go and let God gift you with His peace.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. 1 Thessalonians 3:16
Blessings and comfort as we all seek and pursue God’s peace!
I could go for a double-serving of peace right about now, that’s for sure. I wish those in charge of various militaries in conflicts right now would understand the “pursue peace” idea instead of starting new wars all over the globe. Constant strife serves no purpose other than to fill body bags. Will we ever really have peace, Peggy? I desperately hope so.
You nailed this one, my friend. Superb writing and insight as always, and a pleasure to read. I hope your upcoming holiday is peaceful (there’s that word again!) and safe. 😊

It’s one of my favorite verses… along with Great Peace have those who love your laws, and nothing shall offend them.
Global conflicts only fill body bags as Mike says. I have been spending a lot of time lately, praying for peace… if not in the world, then, in my heart.

Amen, my brother! Peace in the world is elusive, if not impossible. Thankfully we have access to the peace of God.
Prayers for peace always!
