Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 ESV

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen. Matthew 28:1-2, 5-6a ESV

On Palm Sunday, Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem by the people with palm branches and Hosannas. But by Friday Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilot, Herod, and the religious leaders.

No Greater Love

Love is the reason Jesus came to earth to be born in Bethlehem,

Love is the reason Jesus stayed in the temple of His Father at 12 years old,

Love is the reason Jesus healed the sick and gave sight to the blind,

Love is the reason Jesus raised Jarius’ daughter and Lazarus from death,

Love is the reason Jesus told parables and taught about the kingdom of heaven,

Love is the reason Jesus laid down His life for each of us on the cross,

Love is the reason Jesus lay in the tomb for three days,

Love is the reason Jesus arose alive on the third day and defeated death,

Love is the reason Jesus’ has given His spirit that abides in us,

There is no greater love than Jesus’ love!

After the Sabbath, the two women went to the tomb early on Sunday to anoint Jesus’ body with spices. And the angel gave them the good news, Jesus is alive! Love won the victory over death for all of us who believe!
