Our Majestic Creator

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Psalm 8:1 ESV

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him. Psalm 8:3-4 ESV

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. Psalm 8:9 ESV

Our pond frozen over, God’s creation is beautiful in the winter season, too!

We have had two winter storms within days, and both were beautiful with snow blanketing the bareness of winter’s landscape.

Psalm 8 was written by King David. He calls God majestic and marvels at God’s creation. Majestic in this Psalm is used to describe God’s greatness, power, glory, and beauty. In the dictionary, majestic means beautiful and powerful, which results in admiration and respect.

And our response, like David’s, is awe and praise!

The Majesty of Creation

Lord, your majesty shines in your created world,

The heavens and the earth, your beauty unfurled.

The moon and the stars sparkle to give us light,

As well as your guidance, even in the blackest night.

Sunlight glistens on a cascading waterfall,

As all creatures come, their thirst forestalled.

The mountains soar above the horizon’s line,

Adorned with rocky ledges, a variety of pines.

Snowbanks gleam with light from above,

Reflecting for us the radiance of God’s love.

Deer and squirrel, footprints in fresh snow,

Paths winding here and there, to and fro.

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we give praise and honor to our majestic Creator in this winter season!

Blessings and joy as we praise our amazing God!

  1. Beautiful photo and poetry, Peggy. That frozen pond makes me want to strap on my ice skates! You have more snow there than there is here in my little town. Enjoy the blissful landscape, my friend. 😊

    • Thank you, Mike! I’m not sure it’s frozen hard enough to skate on, but it is a bit tempting to try. We had just over 5 inches! It’s the most we’ve seen in a few years. Thanks for your continuous support, my friend!!

  2. This was such a beautiful poem, Peggy. I love when nature inspires a piece of writing. That gift that God has given you to pen such beautiful words, is a blessing.
And thank you for sharing one of my favorite verse… what is man that thou art mindful of him?
    Such an awesome God.
