Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise. Psalm 95:2 ESV

This week we celebrate our American holiday of Thanksgiving. A bit of history first, you know I love the history of holidays! The “first Thanksgiving,” although it was not called that, was in the fall of 1621. The Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people joined together in a harvest celebration. Thanksgiving, as we know it, was first celebrated in 1863 when President Lincoln proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving. He was encouraged by Sarah Josepha Hale as a way to promote unity during the Civil War. It became an official holiday in 1941 by a joint resolution of Congress.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving let’s all remember to give thanks to God for all He has done for us. Take time during the festivities and the traditional meals to give praise and thanks to the Lord. We give thanks for his enduring love, His salvation through Jesus, His forgiveness, His healing and His help in our times of difficulty. Praise the Lord with thanksgiving!
Praise the Lord with Thanksgiving!
Lord, I thank You for my family and friends.
But I also thank You for my scars because they remind me that You healed me.
Lord, I thank You for provision and shelter.
But I also thank You for my tears because they remind me that You dried them.
Lord, I thank You for the beauty I see in Your world.
But I also thank You for my hardships because they remind me that You gave me strength.
Lord, I thank You for Your Son, Jesus, sent for me.
And I also thank You for my sins forgiven because they remind me that You saved me./
This week, enjoy the holidays with family and friends and good food and fellowship! It will be our granddaughter’s first Thanksgiving, lots of pictures!
I thank God for each one of you! You are also my “family.” I ask God to send blessings and bounty, healing and help, comfort and calm, peace and patience (for me especially), and love and life, and to meet all of your needs.
Blessings and joy as you give thanks to God at Thanksgiving!
Here’s wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving, Peggy. Also, I loved the two poems in this week’s posts. A good week to you, my friend! 😊🦃

Thank you, Mike, hope you have a wonderful week as well! Happy Thanksgiving!
My son is hosting Thanksgiving this year! I have a list of dishes to bring as do the in-laws. He’s cooking the turkey. It will be a houseful. 😂

I also thank You for my scars because they remind me that You healed me…
i have a 7″ scar that constantly reminds me that God spared my life one November 12 years ago. I remember being so grateful that Thanksgiving as I sat for dinner with my family. And everyday it’s one of the first things I thank God for.
When God grants us 2nd and 3rd and 4th chances in life, we realize how much he has invested in us and our salvation. To who much is given, much is required. He who is forgiven much, loves much.
Happy Thanksgiving, Peggy. I loved this poem. 🙏

Thanks again, Nigel! We thank God regularly for the blessings and good things in our lives, but we can also be thankful for the trials and troubles that He sees us through. God is not finished with us yet. 😊

Amen… Especially the trials. Because the trying of our faith worketh patience.. The Lord knows it’s been my prayer for a while. ☺️
