How to Have the Best School Year!

And he [Jesus] said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39 ESV

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a ESV

Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14 ESV

Like the water reflects the trees and sky around it, you can reflect God’s love to those around
you at school this year!

A brand new school year is here! Some have already started, others will start soon, and still others after the Labor Day holiday. It is always an exciting time and maybe a little worrisome, too. Who will be your teacher? Will your friends be in your classroom? Will you be able to do all of the work? How much homework will you get? And so many more questions.

Our verses for today give us some great advice on how to have the best school year. Jesus tells us to love God and love other people. Paul tells us what love is – patient, kind, and rejoices with the truth. Love bears, believes, hopes, and endures all things. Love never ends because God’s love for us is everlasting! What one word do you see in each of our verses? You’re right! LOVE

This year as you begin your best school year, take love with you!

A Prayer for Your Best School Year!

I pray that you will…

Start the new school year with a ready, open mind.

Choose to be like Jesus, loving, patient and kind.

Seek knowledge and understanding like long, lost treasure.

Step into new adventures unafraid, without measure.

Enjoy new friendships but also keep the old.

Reflect God’s light and love for all to behold.

Stay healthy and strong to complete school tasks.

Pray for your teachers and friends before they ask.

Walk through the year, till all has been explored.

Smile with joy that you can love like the Lord.

This first week of school, go boldly and gladly into the new school year.  God’s love and all these prayers, will go with you. Smile, love and do your best.

Blessings for a happy and best school year!

  2. i recently shared this verse with the family. The suggestion was to replace the word “love” with your name. And it made such a profound difference in the way my mind received the message. Loved your poem, Peggy. 💜🙏
