Lead Me On Your Path, Lord

Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Psalm 25:4-5 ESV

A narrow path on a steep hillside. We need God’s help to guide us on our path through life.

I love to walk the paths and trails in the woods around our house. Sometimes I take a trail I don’t know really well and get a little lost trying to find my way home. Thankfully the dogs always know the way to get home, especially when it is dinner time! We all usually make it home ok, but it is not always the fastest or best way. I’ve actually had to walk through a creek or two before I made it home. Soggy!

Have you ever had trouble finding the right way, the right path, to take? Our verses for today were written by King David, he wrote many of the Psalms. David is asking God to show him the way that he should go to follow God. He asks God to teach him and lead him, and that David will wait for the Lord to show him the right way to go.

We know that God works everything in our lives for good. “I know what I have planned for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.” Jeremiah 29:11 ICB But sometimes we go off of God’s path and take the path we think we should take. And because of that we miss some of the good things that God has planned for us.

This week talk with your parents about the paths they have taken and how they followed either their path or God’s path and how it worked out for them. Think about a time you wanted to do something, but realized it was the wrong thing. That was God helping to guide you to His path, so that things would work out for your good instead of doing the wrong thing on your path.

Following God’s path doesn’t mean you will never have troubles or sadness, but know that God will always be with you to help you get through any problems and He will continue to work good in your life. And you know that you can always say a quick prayer to God so that you will continue to learn to walk on His path for your life.

Blessings and goodness as you walk with God along His path for you!
