“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46:10-11 ESV

Friday morning at 5:00 am our little black lab, Traveler, jumped into bed and flopped down next to me. As she began to snuggle in, I debated on whether to put her out or let her be. I opted to be still and let her stay. She is also rather toasty on a cold morning.
And as I lay there, still, and trying to go back to sleep, this verse came into my head, and I began to ponder the wonders of God in His amazing creation. As you know, my prayer is always that what I write speaks to at least one person that God wants to touch. I pray it touches you! And so, let’s be still, calm our busy lives, and know and exalt our God.
God Exalted
Be still and know that I am God.
His breath stirs the tree tops to nod.
God is in the sunrise and the sunset.
His light dispels the darkness’ threat.
God calls to us in a ringing church bell.
His spirit in human hearts will dwell.
God is our refuge and strong shield.
His power through us to be healed.
God is the Hearer of all our prayers.
His ear is open, attending to our cares.
God knows His plans for us, plans of hope.
His blessings and strength help us to cope.
God waits on us to seek His presence, His face.
His gifts abundantly flow to us with amazing grace.
This week, let’s all take time to be still and ponder the awesome wonders of our God. Seek His face, shine His light, be the love, share His story, and glorify His name.
I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we take the time to be still and know our God so that He will be exalted and glorified.
Blessings and joy in the presence of the Lord our God!
Thank you for the reminder to be still before God, Peggy. As a hyperactive kid, I was told told “David, be still!”a lot—by my family. I like how your poem says God is in every sunrise and every sunset. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen a chaotic rising or setting sun. God offers us his peace—morning and evening and every moment in between. Blessings!

Thank you, David, for your kind comment. God does give us peace always. My mom’s comment was, “Peggy, light somewhere.” 😊

I miss having a doggo hop onto my bed to sleep with me. Most of the dogs I knew growing up on the farm were “outside dogs,” but we did have one wiener dog named Schroeder who was an “inside dog,” and as a teenager it was such a comfort to hear him come padding into my room at night and feel him jump up and make his little nest on the blankets and fall asleep at my feet. Schroeder was an absolute joy. Your message here is so important and comforting: just be still for awhile, relax, and trust. Thanks for the moments of light you share with us, Peggy. I always look forward to your posts as they resonate each and every time. Have a good week ahead, my friend. 🙂

Mike, you don’t know how much I appreciate your comments and you reading my posts each week! Your encouragement keeps me writing. Thanks, my friend. And you’re right there’s nothing quite as comforting as a pup hopping up and snuggling in. Makes you feel special.

Amen 🙏🏾. And when we are still we can hear his heart beat, we can hear his voice and learn about things that we do not know.
