Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 CSB

Happy Thanksgiving! This Thursday we celebrate the American holiday of Thanksgiving. What things do you and your family do at Thanksgiving? Do you eat turkey and other special foods? Do you take turns sharing what you are thankful for?
Our verses for today were written by the apostle Paul. He gives us some great advice for this Thanksgiving season; always have joy, pray all the time, and give thanks for everything. We give thanks to God for all the blessings, good things, in our lives, like moms and dads, grandparents, a home, and friends. But we can also give thanks for some of the hard times. Because when we have troubles, we know that God is with us. He helps us, giving us strength and wisdom.
Thanks Everyday!
Thank You, Lord,
On Sunday, for singing praise songs in kid’s church.
On Monday, for a bird singing praise in an old birch.
On Tuesday, for my new, very best friend at school.
On Wednesday, for my dad who throws a football with me, he’s cool!
On Thursday, for my mom who packed my favorite lunch, pb&j.
On Friday, for getting the part of Joseph in the Christmas play.
On Saturday, for getting to have a sleepover for my birthday.
This week I’m going to give you something to do for Thanksgiving day with your family. I want you to take a few minutes and write at least 7 things you are thankful for, one for each day of the week, every day. Ask your parents, grandparents, friends, and anyone else who will be having Thanksgiving with you and your family to do the same; 7 things they are thankful for to share. (I bet one of the things on your mom’s and dad’s list will be you!)
Then share your “Thanks Everyday” list with everyone and listen to theirs. God is good and we should thank Him everyday for at least one thing.
Blessings and praise in thanksgiving!
