There is nothing better for a person than to eat, drink, and enjoy his work. I have seen this is from God’s hand, because who can eat and who can enjoy life apart from him? Ecclesiastes 2:24 CSB

Happy Labor Day! I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend celebrating the Labor Day holiday with your parents off of work and you out of school. Labor Day celebrates all who work. And that includes you! Because when you are young and in school, that is your work, your labor. You work hard to finish assignments and complete homework and do your best.
In our verses for today, Solomon is saying that we should enjoy what we eat and drink because God has provided it for us. He also says we should enjoy our work which God also provides. Sometimes we don’t really enjoy all of the work we do. Dishes aren’t my favorite. What is your least favorite job?
But Paul gives all of us some great advice on doing our work. Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people. Colossians 3:23 When you do your work, do it as if you were doing it for Jesus. We would all probably have a better attitude about our work if we were working for Jesus.
This week enjoy your work! If you have chores at home that you don’t really like to do, follow Paul’s advice and do it like you are doing it for Jesus. I bet there would be less complaining, and you would get it done quicker. When you have schoolwork, try to think about finishing it for Jesus, and see if it makes it easier to stay on track.
Happy Labor Day!
Blessings and joy as you work with the Lord!
