Psalm 136 is a reminder for all of us that God’s love for us is everlasting, it never ends, it doesn’t change. Simply, it “endures forever!” Although the word endure seems to imply that God “suffers patiently” with us, yet His love for us remains everlasting and faithful. Thank You, Lord!

I admit that the stories in Numbers of the Israelites in the wilderness came to mind. They had seen the mighty works of the Lord in Egypt, all the plagues ending with the death of the first born. Yet none of these touched them! God parted the Red Sea, and they walked through on dry land. And their enemies drowned! God gave the ten commandments at Mt. Sinai, but when Moses delayed in coming down, they had Aaron make them a golden calf to lead them. How could they forget all the wonderful things God did for them? But don’t we sometimes forget?

Our troubles and worries, doubts and fears may make us unsure from time to time that God really loves us, is really near. But when you are feeling distant from God, read Psalm 136. Every verse talks about a mighty work of God’s hand and ends with, “His faithful love endures forever.” There are 26 verses in this Psalm. We are reminded each time that God’s love is faithful and endures, no matter what we do, forever.

My Psalm

He opened my heart and saved me.  His faithful love endures forever.

He gave me a faithful, Christian husband. His faithful love endures forever.

He healed me from my illness. His faithful love endures forever.

He gave us a daughter when we doubted. His faithful love endures forever.

He added a son and then a daughter-in-law to our family. His faithful love endures forever.

He provided jobs and a living for all of us. His faithful love endures forever.

He is our refuge and shelter in all life’s storms. His faithful love endures forever.

“Give thanks to the God of heaven! His faithful love endures forever.”

This week write your own Psalm. List the mighty works that God has accomplished in your life and add “His faithful love endures forever” or your own phrase about God’s enduring love. Share your Psalm to help remind others of His mighty power and love for each of us.
