The Way to Wisdom

But God understands the way to wisdom, and he knows its location. For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When God fixed the weight of the wind and distributed the water by measure, when he established a limit for the rain and a path for the lightning, he considered wisdom and evaluated it; he established it and examined it. He said to mankind, “The fear of the Lord – that is wisdom. And to turn from evil is understanding.” Job 28:23-28 CSB

Job explains that God’s wisdom is seen throughout His amazing creation and that the fear of the Lord is the way to wisdom!

I love the poetry in these verses from Job. He tells us that God understands the way to wisdom. I can imagine God using wisdom as He fixed the weight of the wind, measured out water for each ocean and sea, and set a limit for the rain and the path of lightning.

But God didn’t just consider wisdom; He evaluated it, established it, and examined it. And then God told mankind, us, that the fear of the Lord is the way to wisdom. And that turning from evil is understanding.

The fear of the Lord is our way to wisdom. We need to take time to “consider” it, “evaluate” it, “examine” it, and finally “establish” it in our own lives. James 1:5 tells us, “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God – who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly – and it will be given to him.” God is the source, we have only to ask.

Solomon had it right. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

I usually ask for God’s wisdom as I write each blog post. I pray that what I write speaks to at least one person that God needs to reach or that it touches someone’s heart.

This week let’s all follow God’s way to wisdom; examine and evaluate the wisdom in God’s Word, pray for wisdom in making a decision or knowing God’s will, and follow God because that is wisdom!

I thank God for each of you! And I thank you for joining me this week as we follow God in the way of wisdom.

Blessings and wisdom with our Lord!
