God Gives Us Strength

Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, yet I will celebrate in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! The LORD my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights! Habakkuk 3:17-19 CSB

When life is hard, God is with us and can “lift us up” so we feel like we are on a mountain top!

Sometimes life is pretty hard, even for kids. In our verses for today, the prophet, Habakkuk, says that even if everything in his life fails; the fig tree and vines bear no fruit, the olive trees and fields bear no food, and all the animals are gone, he can still rejoice, he can be happy. How? Because he has the Lord!

God never leaves us. He is with us every day; the good days and the bad days, the happy days and the sad days, the easy days and the hard days. But on those days when we are having a hard time, God gives us strength to get through them. Sometimes when I’m getting frustrated or angry or I just can’t seem to get something right, I stop. I say, “Lord, help me through this!” It lets me remind myself that He is with me and will help me. And you know what? He does!

Like Habakkuk, we can rejoice even when things seem hard, because we know that God is with us. God gives us strength when we feel weak. God gives us joy even when life if hard. God gives us comfort in our troubles. God gives us everlasting love.

This week talk to your parents about how God helps all of us. Maybe they can share a story of how God helped them when life was hard. Can you think of a time when God was with you and helped you with something? Share your story with someone else.

Blessings and joy because God is your strength!
